Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be to understand that the overall sense of wellness that we achieve is by having a sense of balance across the elements below:

-          Emotional or psychological - this element is about our own thoughts and feelings, our resilience and ability to cope with the issues of life that we face.

-          Physical - this includes all of our lifestyle choices that affect how our bodies function, such as whether we smoke, drink alcohol, what we choose to eat and how much we do or don’t exercise.

-          Social - this element is about how we connect with others. Our relationships, beliefs, values and traditions are all part of social wellbeing.

-          Spiritual - this is about how we experience meaning and integrate purpose into our lives through our connections with ourselves and others.

-          Economic - this element is about feeling security in that we are able to meet our basic needs i.e. providing food and shelter for ourselves and our families and paying bills.

-          And finally, Intellectual – this is about having a desire to learn and improve your skill sets, seeking out new experiences and challenges. This is about keeping our minds open to new experiences and lessons that can benefit us in both our personal and professional lives.
