MAYDAY - I NEED HELP.

The Finding Happy Series from Make Me A Plan's Mindfulness Expert, Aria Robbins.
29.04.2019.

There are plenty of times in our lives that we will need to ask for help. Whether that be help with moving a piece of furniture, help with our well-being or help to overcome an addiction.

Below, I will list some useful contacts if you or someone you know needs help;

Drugs/Alcohol: Addaction – based in Truro and St Austell (if you are located in Cornwall). If not then speak to your GP to find your local service provider. It is also a good idea not to suffer alone, tell someone you are struggling and you need their help, check who your circle is and see if they are leading you on a positive path or if you are following a path to unhappiness.

Mental Health: A friend, a relative, your GP, Mind – 0300 1233393 or text 86463, emergency out of hours line 0300 3047000, Samaritans – 116 123 (free call)

Domestic Violence: @parttimeworkingmummy on Instagram and Facebook does tonnes of work to help women, men and children out of violent situations and she is completely understanding of the situation you are in, having been there herself. Other people to contact (if you can and if it is safe to do so) your GP, a police officer, Womens Aid – 0808 2000 247.

Sexual Violence: Rape Crisis – 0808 802 9999 (12 – 2:30 & 7 – 9:30) Victim Support – 0808 168 9111, Women’s Aid (24hrs) – 0808 2000 247, again you can also speak to your GP and any police officer.

Loneliness (Elderly): campaigntoendloneliness.org, ageuk – 0800 678 1602

Loneliness (Young People & Adults): I would 100% suggest signing up for some classes in your interests, a spin class, yoga, walking club, book club, all wonderful places to meet people who have similar interests to you. There are also groups on Facebook for people with similar interests, just be cautious if you are meeting someone online.

Help is always at hand for any issues you are facing. Never think you are alone in this world.

The concept of Social Media was to bring us together but in all reality it has forced us to look upon people with seemingly ‘better’ lives than us, driven people apart because we have lost the necessity for face-to-face interaction and there has been numerous cases of Mental Health problems which are linked to these sharing sites but everyone has mountains to climb no matter how pretty they paint their pictures on their Instagram.

Every person is deserving of love, peace and happiness.
