ON MIDSUMMER

The Philosopher-in-Residence Blog Series from Make Me A Plan's Principal Planner, Anna Pascoe
13.08.2026.

Most of us have heard of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, even if we haven’t actually read it. This week, this got this Philosopher-in-Residence thinking about what are we dreaming about, this midsummer?

Perhaps you’re feeling a bit maudlin – a sense the year is zooming by without having achieved what you hoped or aimed for.

Perhaps you’re not dreaming at all as you variously spend as much time outside in the glorious weather as possible/shield indoors from the blazing sun wishing for some rain.

Wherever you lie along this continuum, be reminded there’s a significant correlation between dreaming or visualising what you want and getting that outcome (that’s not to say you don’t need to work as well, but dreaming powers up the general task/step completion element of delivering a goal).

So this Thursday’s invitation for you is to set your very own Midsummer Night’s Dream…plan some time for undertaking the steps to achieve it…and plan some time for dreaming big to complement that goal.

Next fortnight I’ll be writing On Banking Holidays. Be sure to stop by and see what’s in store. Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.

In the meantime,

Happy Planning
