WELCOME TO SPRING

01.03.2022.

We are officially in the month of Spring, yay!

I have seen enough rain and stormy weather to last a lifetime over the last couple of months, with all the doom and gloom in the world right now, let’s look forward to the fast-approaching summer months, ditching the coats and scarfs and slapping on the sun cream!

With the vast easing of all UK coronavirus restrictions, I most definitely see a ‘normal’ summer for 2022 (hopefully!). Have you noticed the daylight is already starting to draw out? I don’t know about you, but I am so ready to see beautiful blooming flowers and enjoy longer days of light and activity.

It all starts with Spring, in the coming weeks we will feel temperatures getting warmer, bare trees growing fresh leaves and colourful plants and flowers thriving in warmer temperatures.

Benefits of Spring

In the winter months, people tend to stay cooped up indoors, staying warm and dry. When the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, it is so much easier to avoid leaving the house, I tend to do this a lot, especially because the thought of getting the kids booted and suited to walk in the rain at 2mph is just daunting, not to mention hard work! Spending too much time indoors can damage your health and wellbeing more than you may think.

Let’s take a look at the benefits of Spring

Increased daylight hours – As the days start to last longer, we can start to enjoy spending more time outdoors, take your daily dose of exercise outdoors – This is a natural mood booster.

Healthy home – We can begin to open our windows and let the fresh air flow through, this is good for your lungs, immune system and can generally just make you feel much happier.

Fresh fruit and veg – Spring is the season in which farmers crops grow and thrive, restocking our local supermarkets with freshly grown fruit and veg.

Boost in energy and productivity

Healthy dose of natural Vitamin D

Mental health – Seasonal behaviour is a real thing, otherwise known as SAD (Seasonal affective disorder), thought to be linked to reduced exposure to sunlight. Heading into the winter months can for some, trigger abnormal moods and behavioural changes, not only that, but winter blues can also decrease energy levels dramatically.

Access to prolonged daylight, fresh air and spending time outdoors with family and friends aids in a huge mental health boost, spring is the season to feel happy and in good health.

Who says spring has to start on the 20th of March? Why not start planning early? You could write a list of all the things you want to do this spring/summer, ticking off as you go, or even create your own mood board.
