ON FIRE

The Philosopher-in-Residence Blog Series from Make Me A Plan's Principal Planner, Anna Pascoe
05.11.2026.

It’s November 5th, the evening where some “celebrate” Fireworks Night, some are offended by the occasion for religious reasons, and most in further-flung locations don’t know or care what I’m talking about.

In a bid to cater to all, this Philosopher-in-Residence has decided to take a loose tangent and use this fortnight’s blog to ask:

What’s the fire in your belly?

The change of seasons, the chill in the air, the extra financial costs this time of year often brings…all these can burden our minds and cloud our outlook.

I’m not going to pretend any worries such as this can easily be put aside, but, the good ship Plankind is here to try and help ensure we aren’t consumed by anxieties.

And we have found that a great way to scaffold against worries, is to focus on what makes us proud, motivated, ready to stand up and be counted.

This could be anything from looking after your kids, to looking yourself in the mirror and congratulating yourself on doing a pretty darn good job, all things considered.

For me, it’s always been the campaign against injustice, for fairness. That lights the fire in my belly and is the North I try to orient back to when adulting is getting a bit tiresome.

So, what puts the fire in your belly? We’d love to hear from you.

Next fortnight I’ll be writing On Something. If that’s not sufficient vaguebooking to whet your whistle to pop by and check it out, I don’t know what is. Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.

In the meantime,

Happy Planning
